How long did your FieldPulse rollout take? What slowed you down?

We're about three months into our FieldPulse implementation, and while the team is starting to settle in, I keep thinking about how the timeline compared to what we originally planned. I'm curious about other teams' experiences—both to validate where we landed and to flag anything we might still be underestimating.

Our situation: 18 field technicians across two regions, moving from a mix of paper work orders and shared spreadsheets. We budgeted 6 weeks for full rollout. It took closer to 10, and I'd say we're still refining workflows that weren't fully baked in week 6.

The biggest slowdown for us wasn't the software itself—it was getting our existing customer data clean enough to import without creating a mess. We also underestimated how long it would take to train our longest-tenured techs, who had their own systems they were genuinely effective with.

What did your rollout timeline actually look like versus your plan? And what ended up being the thing that slowed you down most?

  • Thanks so much for starting this thread! Very helpful to see the range.

We're planning our rollout for January and I'm wondering—how much time did you all actually spend in the "setup" phase before going live? Like building templates, configuring notifications, all that backend work? And did anyone do a phased rollout by region or team, or was it everyone at once?

Really appreciate any details! Our team is excited but also nervous about the transition.

  • Phased rollout, every time.

    • Week 1-2: Setup + templates
    • Week 3-4: Pilot with 3-4 volunteer techs
    • Week 5-6: Refine based on pilot feedback
    • Week 7+: Roll to remaining teams in waves of 5-6

Backend setup: ~20 hours for our size (14 techs). Biggest time sink was notification rules—testing who gets what when took longer than expected.

Volunteer pilot techs are critical. Don't pick your most patient people. Pick your most skeptical, vocal critics. If you can convert them, they become your best evangelists.

  • I'll add that you should budget time for post-launch tuning that everyone forgets about. We were "live" at week 6, but I spent weeks 7-12 adjusting dispatch board filters, tweaking notification timing, and rebuilding one checklist template from scratch because the first version was asking for data no one could reasonably capture in the field.

The rollout isn't done when people can log in. It's done when the workflow actually fits how your team operates. That takes longer than the vendor timeline suggests.
