Our Commitment to Offline-First Field Operations

Field technicians do not work where the internet is perfect. They work in basements, on rural routes, in industrial facilities with spotty coverage, and in buildings where concrete and steel block signals completely. We have always known this. Now we are building for it.

Why Offline-First Changes Everything

When a technician loses connectivity, they should not lose productivity. The current generation of field service tools treats offline mode as a fallback — a degraded experience to be tolerated until service returns. We are inverting that assumption.

Our roadmap for the first half of 2026 centers on making FieldPulse fully functional without a persistent connection. This is not a single feature. It is a structural commitment across four areas:

• Core workflow persistence. Create, update, and complete work orders without connectivity. All changes queue locally and sync intelligently upon reconnection.
• Media capture and storage. Photos, videos, and audio notes save to encrypted local storage and upload in background when bandwidth permits.
• Checklist and form execution. Access and complete any assigned checklist, including those with conditional logic and required validations, regardless of connection status.
• Dispatch and schedule awareness. View full daily schedules, job details, and customer information even in extended offline periods.

Technical Approach

We are rebuilding our mobile data layer around a local-first architecture. This means:

1. All read operations draw from a local SQLite database that mirrors server state
2. All write operations write locally first, then propagate asynchronously
3. Conflict resolution happens transparently, with clear visual indicators when manual intervention is needed

Our recent offline mode release for iOS and Android represents the first milestone in this journey. The feedback has been powerful, and we are expanding scope based on what we have learned.

What Teams Can Expect

We are targeting general availability of full offline-first functionality by Q2 2026. Between now and then, you will see incremental releases that each expand what is possible without connectivity.
