Drag-and-Drop Scheduling

The Dispatch Board in FieldPulse supports drag-and-drop scheduling, allowing dispatchers to quickly adjust assignments and time slots without navigating through multiple screens.

Getting Started

To use drag-and-drop scheduling, navigate to Scheduling > Dispatch Board. Ensure the board is loaded in Day or Week view. The Month view does not support drag-and-drop operations.

Moving a Job to a Different Time Slot

1. Locate the work order on the Dispatch Board.
2. Click and hold the job card.
3. Drag to the desired time slot on the same technician's row.
4. Release to confirm. A Job Updated notification appears in the lower-right corner.

Reassigning a Job to Another Technician

1. Click and hold the job card.
2. Drag vertically to the target technician's row.
3. Release when the time slot highlights. The assignment updates immediately.

System-assigned constraints are enforced: if the target technician lacks required skills or certifications, a Validation Warning appears. You may proceed with override permissions or cancel.

Resizing Job Duration

Hover over the bottom edge of a job card until the resize cursor appears. Drag down to extend, or up to shorten. Duration changes sync to the technician's mobile app within seconds.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Limitations

• Jobs with Locked status cannot be moved via drag-and-drop.
• Recurring work order instances must be edited from the template; individual instances cannot be dragged.
• Drag-and-drop is disabled on touch devices below 1024px width. Use Edit Assignment instead.
